"I Was In Prison"
I received a 2 1/2 to 10 year sentence, and as I was taken from the courtroom that day in hand cuffs, I looked at my wife thinking that I wouldn't see her again.
I went through the regular entrance formalities at the state prison, after being transported in an orange jump suit with leg and wrist shackles.
I felt empty and alone. I didn't believe that there could be a God. I not only was in prison but I was also in the prison of sin. For years I had mocked spiritual things, used God's name in vain and laughed at the thought of any spiritual accountability.
There I was, in prison for 2 1/2 years and also condemned to a spiritual death (Revelation 20:15).
#1. God loved me. John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
II Peter 3:9b says: God's... "...not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
#2. I realized that I was a sinner. Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
#3. I realized that I deserved Hell. Romans 6:23a "For the wages of sin is death...."
#4. I realized I could be forgiven. Romans 6:23b "....but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
I bowed my head that day and asked God to forgive my sin and save my soul.
GUESS WHAT? HE DID!
And He will do the same for you. Just pray the above prayer with all your heart and you too can be released from the prison of sin.
I have been saved for 20 years now. I'm out of prison in both cases and I expect to spend eternity in Heaven, based on the Bible, God's Word. John 10:27-29; I John 5:11-13
